General Foods has been manufacturing protein balls in Melbourne since 2013. We work with brand owners, product developers, and retailers on contract and private label protein ball manufacturing, producing balls to exact macro targets, coating specifications, and size requirements.

Our Keilor facility handles blending, forming, coating, and packing in-house. Whether you are launching a new SKU or scaling up an existing line, we can accommodate medium-to-high volume run-ups.

Brief and scoping

Tell us about your product concept, target market and volume requirements. We'll assess feasibility, discuss format options and outline what's possible within your budget and timeline.

Formulation and sampling

Our team develops recipes to your specification, covering ingredients, macros, flavour profile and dietary requirements. We produce samples for review and iterate until you're satisfied.

Production and quality control

Once the formula is locked, we move into full production. Every batch is produced under SQF Level 3 conditions with full traceability and quality checks at every stage of the line.

Packaging and dispatch

Finished product is packed to your specification, whether that's retail-ready primary packaging or bulk formats for further processing. We coordinate dispatch directly to your warehouse or 3PL.

Custom protein ball formulation

We work from your brief or help you build one. Protein source, base ingredient, coating type, flavour, and size are all variables we can tailor for your protein ball range. Our team has experience across dairy proteins including whey and milk protein, as well as vegan proteins including faba, soy, and pea, and can formulate to meet your macro and labelling requirements.

We manufacture dairy and vegan protein packed balls and can develop allergen-managed formulations where needed. We can match an existing product or develop a new formulation from scratch. Sample runs are available before committing to full production.

Macro targets, flavour profile, ball size, and coating type are all set at brief stage. We formulate to meet FSANZ labelling requirements and provide full nutritional panels for each product.
